It's still the first week of January, and I'm still beginning things over here in the new house. I started a new Nike+ Training program. Well, I set it up today and then it told me to go run, so I did.
I've written before about needing a certain amount of running to make it worth getting moving... but that's not the case right now. I just need to get moving. So 10 minutes was a fine goal for today, until I hit it and realized how close I was to a mile and then THAT became the goal.
The other characteristic of today's run was the rain. It had slowed to a constant mist, and not wanting to miss my window of opportunity, I ventured out in it. But I hate rainy running for one reason: glasses. By 30 seconds in my visibility is shot. Blergh. Still, if it had been raining harder it would have been more miserable. Leslie has suggested I get contacts for rainy running, but that seems extravagant in Sunny California, so I'm undecided as yet.
I've now spent longer writing about this run than I spent actually running, so I think I'll sign off. Let me leave you with this thought: If the end goal seems too large, too unfathomable, break it down. Break it down. Break it down, until you get to what you can manage and start there.
