On a benchmark run, you're supposed to start out slow for 7 minutes, run hard for 3 minutes in the middle and then finish with a slow, solid cool-down for 5 minutes. Well... here's what my pace looked like for this run.
So... this is what it looks like when I'm supremely emotional and pissed off about something and I go for a run. I hit it pretty hard at the beginning, turned up Sara Barielles's "Brave" on repeat, and cried for the first 5 minutes, then normalized (i.e. slowed back down)... and then picked up the pace toward the end because my body had recovered and warmed back up.
Oh well. Nike+ will have to figure out what to make of that data. The app uses runs like this one in the context of the training program to help modify the program to meet your needs. Ha...
One good way to look at it is that I sustained a much faster pace over ~1.5 miles than my usual. So frustration with Trump (and with people who think I'm "lost" or "confused" because I don't believe the way they do, and who honestly believe that we should just sit back and "let God handle things" instead of advocating through activism for people whose rights are being stripped even at this very moment) will push me through to my 26.2 mile goal. I guess my timing is pretty perfect.
