I ran a short "recovery" run today. Again, these labels will be more pertinent when I'm actually running some distance... as opposed to now when they are just blips on the proverbial gps map of life.
Since I had come to Davis for my critique group (yay Yolo Writers Cramp!) and since she was in town to focus and study hard this weekend, Lauren was sweet enough to run this slow short mile with me. I love having company when I run!
Lauren offered for me to use her wrist-worn garmin heart monitor, too, today. Being the curious person I am, I agreed. It'd be nice to see what my active heart rate was compared with my resting heart rate, and when I pushed myself out of "the zone."
Except it didn't work. Unless I somehow was able to push my heart rate over 200 in less than a mile. I wasn't even breathing hard, and definitely couldn't feel that my heart was working that hard. Lol! I remain skeptical.
Next week I have two short HARD runs (fast as I can for 7 minutes and sprints). It's time to push myself and start building endurance!
