I forgot to post this yesterday, but Lauren and I got a run in this week! Yay! I wore my old Nikes again and had no trouble with my toes... again. I'm going to wear the Nikes for an 8-mile run on Sunday and make the final call on that, whether it'll be time to pitch the Mizunos (or only use them for short runs, actually). It's too bad. But it's how it goes, I guess. I'm glad I didn't cause more serious injury to myself in the process of figuring out that they don't work for marathon length running.
I mapped out my next long run, as well. I'll be doing 18 miles on the 8th of April. Yikes! And in order to keep things fresh, keep my brain engaged on the route instead of getting too bored with the same old Davis streets... I'm going to start on the Sacramento side of the causeway (!!) and run all the way across it, through Davis, and down to the Three Palms nursery on the way to Winters.
That's... a long run, guys. I don't need to tell you, I'm a little intimidated by the idea. Not to mention, I'll be doing it solo. Noah will drop me at the starting point and meet me in the middle to make sure I'm not dying, but it's just going to be me, mile after mile. I'm checking my podcast queue and thinking of downloading an audio book. Not to mention I need to get a camelbak-type apparatus so that I can hydrate along the way, since Noah won't be there at the 5-mile markers to hand me a Gatorade bottle.
There are only 5 weeks left until marathon day! That's... hard to believe...
