Noah surprised me by suggesting we run together around the park here by our house this morning. He NEVER suggests going for a run! So of course I tossed on my shoes (with a bandaid for my still-blistered big toe) and we headed out. It wasn't until we were down the street that I realized I'd forgotten to bring my phone so I could track the run and our pace. That meant I had to add the run when we got back.
Luckily it wasn't raining very hard yet, when we went out. Because we all know how I feel about running in the rain. It was a short run, but the in-between runs are supposed to be short. It helps my brain remember that every time I put on my running shoes I'm not going to be moving for the next 3+ hours.
It felt good to get back out after five days off. My big toes are still pretty blistered and I'm reasonably certain that I'm going to have runners toe (where the nail goes black and eventually falls off) on at least two more of them. It's the price you pay, I guess. I hope the blisters get worked out soon, though. No fun. I'm going to upgrade my socks, to help with that problem. But I think I also have to put athletic tape on my toes because a couple of the blisters are toe-on-toe violence, not sock-related.
Yay for short runs and accomplishing little goals.
