I was starting to get nervous that I'd throw my whole running schedule off this week because... BUSY! I am driving to San Francisco later today for the San Francisco Writers Conference. I'll be in SF for a few days (staying with family) and I hope to run on Saturday or Sunday at the Marina. But because I'm volunteering for the conference I'm not entirely in charge of my own schedule. So here's hoping for a run in the city and NOT on the huge hills.* (see below)
My prep for the conference also threw off my schedule for the beginning of the week. I was supposed to run yesterday and didn't. I'm supposed to run Friday but probably won't. So today, between phone and Skype meetings, I pulled on my Mizunos and pushed myself out the door. I figure getting one run in, even if it's only three miles, is better than getting no runs in this week.
I'm glad I ran. It lowered my anxiety level considerably. I ran harder than usual over three miles, which felt good. I know I'll need to pull back when I'm running a longer distance, but the short runs help me push my pace and endurance at a faster speed. So yay for accomplishing that goal, at least.
*Footnote: I was supposed to run on a weekend day with Lauren. But she has forsaken me. Yet another monkey wrench to my running plans for the week.
